I have over 25 years experience in counseling. By combining empathy (providing safe, validating space) with challenge (motivating action and growth), I create a balanced environment that helps clients move from feeling stuck to feeling empowered and actively working toward their self-defined goals. I specialize in marriage counseling,  young adults and those struggling with life's transitions.

Young Adults Counseling

I provide meaningful support to help my clients set valued goals, focus on controllable actions and  build strength based resilience, while navigating  life's transitions and challenges. I use a variety of modalities to address each of my client's needs

I consider myself pro-marriage and pro-family. I work towards empowering couples to navigate life's challenges through effective communication, self accountability, and building resilient connections where every individual's needs are met.

I help young adults navigate the transition from adolescence into full independence and adulthood, which often includes: Exploring Identity: Encouraging introspection to understand their core values, beliefs, strengths, and weaknesses.
Developing Emotional Intelligence: Teaching them to recognize and manage their emotions effectively.
Clarifying Purpose and Goals: Guiding them in setting meaningful, personal, academic, or career goals.

Building Resilience: Providing tools to manage uncertainty, stress, and setbacks inherent in major life transitions.

 What my clients say...

I came to Joy, during a stressful period at work that was capped off with a health crisis with my 5-year old son.  I had not ever done anything like therapy before but recognized I needed something.  Joy was instrumental in helping me navigate through this time in my life.  She actively listened and was caring but also challenged and pushed me.  During a difficult period of my life, she helped give me tools and practices I could use to manage what I was going through.  As I moved out of that phase of my life, I stuck with Joy on a monthly or bi-monthly basis to work through the everyday stresses.  Therapy and more specifically her guidance and attentive listening, became a great tool in the toolbox to manage life’s highs and lows.

Joy is an exceptional therapist. She brings a rare combination of genuine presence, emotional intelligence, and clinical skill. From day one, she listened deeply before offering guidance — and that simple act made me feel understood in a way I hadn’t in a long time. What makes Joy different is her ability to both hold space for your feelings and show you the pathway forward. She doesn’t just give advice — she teaches you how to navigate your internal world with clarity and courage. Her work is not theoretical. She provides a practical toolbox of strategies that are customized to your situation: ways to cope, ways to adapt, and ways to grow. Every session left me with something concrete I could apply immediately. I came to Joy at arguably the lowest point in my life. With her guidance, insight, and steady compassion, she helped me see the light again. I can’t thank her enough, and I recommend her without hesitation.

I am a client of Joy's and I can honestly say she is one of the most kind and empathetic therapists I've personally ever encountered. She listens without judgement and is also able to challenge me to see situations from an outside perspective. We connected during a difficult time for me emotionally and she has been with me every step of the way. Joy really has helped me through so many difficult moments within my relationship and has been nothing but a great source of support and guidance..

Joy helped our marriage during a difficult period. Raising our children is our priority but somehow we lost our ability to communicate effectively. Joy challenged and supported us through navigating painful conversations, identifying each of our needs, and taking responsibility for  our parts in the marriage. The tools she taught us helped restore our marriage.  It's not perfect and sometimes we just need a session or two to get back on track. She was the first counselor that allowed  both of us to feel  heard and seen.

"Joy is a phenomenal therapist! She truly takes the time to listen to you and to learn not only where you struggle but also what your strengths and talents are. She works with you to realize your own strengths and to nurture and develop them into strong and lasting techniques for finding peace and healing. Joy is supportive, kind, respectful, thoughtful and understanding. She treats you as an individual and helps you in ways that are personalized and meaningful for you. I am truly grateful for how much I have grown working with Joy, and I would recommend her 1000/10 to anyone!"  Rachel N. Age 23

"Joy has been so great at helping me understand that my thoughts are not always reality. She has helped me look for evidence in my thoughts and think about things logically."
